Foiegwa: French dining in Saint Henri

On a Friday night after work, my other half was out of town and one of my good friends was in Montreal for the week-end so we decided to book a table at Foeigwa.  Located right at the corner of Atwater and Notre Dame O and also right in the border between Saint Henri and Little Burgundy neighborhood, this trendy French new diner offers a pretty cool atmosphere, awesome design, affordable prices and of course great food.

As soon as we arrived, the hostess right away took care of us and  gave us our table, which was situated right in the middle of the restaurant. We got there like at 5h30pm and the place was still empty,  but as soon as we started to look around the place was packed.

At first, we were pretty impressed by the decor, there is a perfect combination of white tiles,  brown banquetts, black chairs that make this place look gorgeous, not to mention the amazing lighting and the sketches all over the walls. On the other hand, the space is small but pretty well distributed, on the right of the restaurant you have the open kitchen concept and also the sitting bar,  on the left you have the regular tables and banquettes.

On this occassion, in order to have the real french experience we ordered a couple of appetizers, first we ordered the escargots  with garlic butter sauce which were pretty solid and we also had the delicious chicken liver pâté with crusty bread and vegetables on top.

For the main course, I tried their signature  pasta with an egg on top and black truffle oil which was delicious and my friend got the cheese burger  with fries, which were pretty good too. Our waitress was very attentive to us and she even suggested a glass of wine to pair with our meal. She brought 2 red wine suggestions to the table and of course we chose a French red wine to go with our meal. At the end of the “soirée”, we didn’t have room for dessert so we did not try any of their delicatessens.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood make sure you check out this place!
