Jellyfish Crudo + Charbon

Jellyfish Crudo + Charbon is located at the corner of Marguerite d’Youville and Sœurs Grises, where the Aziatik used to be, by owners Francis Rodrigue (Magia and Madame Thaï) and Roberto Pesut (Globe and Buenanotte). The restaurant however has many other collaborators: the kitchen is run by Mathieu Masson Duceppe (Chopped Canada), while the wine list was made by Simon Duval (L’eau à la bouche and l’Auberge Saint-Gabriel) and the cocktails are by Brynley Leach (Bremner).
The space is quite vast with high ceilings and large windows, which I really liked. You can also spend the night at the central bar if you prefer to, as the ambiance is very festive… The menu is divided between Crudo and Charbon. We opted to share some Crudos: oysters, salmon tartar, beef tartar, scallop carpaccio, tuna, etc. On the Charbon menu, there is a large selection of meals: cod, chicken, porc, veal, beef, salmon, etc., and you can add some sides. Even though the menu is full of basics, the food is quite enjoyable…

Might not be the best place for a date night as it is a bit noisy, but it is a great spot if you are looking to have a meal with some friends or co-workers in a festive atmosphere. The decor has character and the crowd is vibrant, which is always a good way to start the night…  Be aware however, the restaurant has 2 services during the night so you might be asked to leave your table when the second service starts…
